How to price a liquidation pallet for resale

Pricing a liquidation pallet comes down to three numbers: what you paid, what it can sell for, and how much work it takes to get there.

Start with the manifest

Every manifested load lists each item with its retail value. Add those up and compare to your cost. If a pallet costs 8% of retail, every dollar of retail you recover above that is margin.

Set a per-unit floor

Divide your total cost by the number of sellable units. That's the minimum you need per item to break even. Price above it and you're profitable on every sale.

  • New overstock sells closest to retail
  • Shelf pulls need a light discount
  • Customer returns need testing time built into the price

Leave room for the tail

The last 20% of a pallet is always the slowest. Price the hot items to move volume and let the slow movers subsidize your storage.
